About

This My Nature Outing project inquires into questions surrounding sustainable design and examines local efforts at the University of Pittburgh. My Nature Outing is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh's John C. Mascaro Center for Sustainable Engineering and the Office of the Provost's Year of Data and Society.

Sustainable Design

What is sustainable design? What does it do? How does it work? Why is it important? How can we increase interest in sustainable design?

Green roofs

Green roofs help roofs live longer by absorbing water and sunlight to live.

The bike cave

The bike cave recieves, fixes, and then resells bikes for affordable prices. The company recieves the bikes and uses tools to fix up the bikes so other students on campus are able to ride them. This is beneficial to students who need transport but do not have enough money to afford more expensive bikes. These bike caves can be beneficial to everyone, not just students. People all around the world are not able to afford expensive bikses, therefore making the bike cave a very helpful place.
